John Abbott College
John Abbott College is a public English-language college in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the shores of Lake Saint-Louis. Located at the western tip of Montreal Island, the college shares space with McGill University’s Macdonald campus. The campus has 10 interconnected buildings that were built in the 19th century, and are considered a landmark in Montreal. With more than 6,500 students, and an additional 2,000 continuing education students, John Abbott College offers pre- university programs including arts and sciences, arts, literature and communication, liberal arts, visual arts, science and social sciences. Its technical programs include business management, dental hygiene, police technology, biopharmaceutical production technology, criminology intervention, graphic and web design technologies, nursing, paramedicine and more.
John Abbott’s sports teams, known as the Islanders, compete in intercollegiate soccer, basketball, volleyball, rugby, baseball and hockey, cross-country running, swimming, golf, flag football and football. John Abbott has many student clubs, including cultural clubs, robotics and rock climbing. The student activities department organizes annual events including a student debate, a model United Nations conference and a multicultural week.
