Concordia

Founded 1974 | Montreal

Concordia is one of Canada’s largest universities, offering more than 500 programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It provides a flexible learning environment with evening classes, online courses and a library that’s open 24/7.

Concordia is a young, forward-looking university. It’s a unique place where experimentation, innovation and creativity are truly valued,” says president Graham Carr. “Our community of students, faculty, staff and alumni all contribute to our momentum as Canada’s next-gen university.”

In that vein, the District 3 Innovation Hub is a community in which students, alumni and academic leaders share ideas and generate new products. Living in Montreal has its perks. Rent is cheaper than in many other large cities, and the downtown campus is close to attractions and nightclubs. The Loyola campus in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, 6.5 kilometres away, is easy to reach by shuttle bus, public transit or—a campus highlight—a bike path. It’s home to the Centre for Applied Synthetic Biology, which brings together researchers from biology, engineering, computer and social sciences. The campus also hosts the Applied Science Hub, which supports research in areas such as materials engineering, nanoscience and bioprocessing, and houses District 3’s BioHub, an accelerator for entrepreneurs and innovators in life sciences. Concordia is committed to providing all undergrads with an experiential learning experience. Opportunities include final-year capstone projects and exhibits, volunteering in the community and international exchanges.

Campus buzz: First year students can meet up weekly for workshops, games and discussion through the Homeroom initiative.
