Medicine Hat College

Founded 1965 | Medicine Hat, Alta.

Students at Medicine Hat College study in Canada’s sunniest city, which receives 2,512 hours of rays each year. While most students attend the Medicine Hat campus, the college also has a campus in Brooks, a vibrant community located just an hour west of Medicine Hat. Townhouse-style student residences are available at both campuses.

The college offers 40-plus certificate, diploma, degree, trades and university programs in areas like business, education, environmental biology and reclamation, information technology, nursing, social work and speech language pathology. Medicine Hat recently introduced diploma programs in sport and event marketing and management, sustainable innovation, and service dog and canine studies management. Welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry apprenticeship programs are also available.
Medicine Hat offers programming with a global focus and arranges work and study abroad experiences. The college also hosts many international students, including those from India, the Philippines, Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and South Korea.

The college is also known for its athletic teams—known as the Rattlers—that compete in basketball, hockey, cross-country running, soccer, volleyball and golf.

Recent facility expansion includes a new Indigenous gathering space (Ómahksípiitaa), fitness centre and health simulation labs. The Centre for Innovation supports applied research and provides opportunity for faculty, students and industry partners to work collaboratively.
