Queen’s University

Founded 1841 | Kingston, Ont.

Queen’s University is a hub of academic research on the shore of Lake Ontario near the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. The campus is dotted with charming limestone buildings in Romanesque Revival and neo-Gothic styles; several buildings are more than 100 years old. Modern structures coexist alongside them, such as Mitchell Hall, home to science and robotic laboratories, an innovation hub, interdisciplinary research labs and athletic facilities. The Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts regularly attracts award-winning performers, and the Agnes Etherington Art Centre houses pieces by influential artists, including works by Rembrandt.

“Queen’s supports a diverse, inclusive and equity-minded campus environment,” says principal Patrick Deane. “[Queen’s] attracts outstanding individuals from around the globe, providing them with the tools they need for success and ensuring that, when they leave the university, they have all the potential to make profound impacts on our world.”

The university has an extensive international program, offering the opportunity to study at more than 200 institutions around the world. Queen’s University campus is surrounded by rows of brick houses, most of which are rented by students. It’s a 10-minute walk downtown and a short stroll to Lake Ontario’s scenic waterfront.

Campus buzz: Student hub John Deutsch University Centre is undergoing a significant renovation, slated to be complete in 2024. The modernized building will house more than 100 student clubs, 6,000 square feet for studying, a wellness space and expanded food options.
