Seven Generations Education Institute
Seven Generations Education Institute (SGEI) is an Indigenous-led educational organization that provides secondary, post-secondary, training for employment, driver’s training and other programming to Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The college serves more than 20 communities across northwestern Ontario and focuses on the Treaty 3 territory, with campuses in Fort Frances, Kenora and Sioux Lookout. SGEI’s program delivery and student support is grounded in Anishinaabe language, culture and world view. The school offers part-time degree, diploma, certificate and continuing education programs in an array of fields including health, arts and humanities, skilled trades, community services and business.
Among SGEI’s three main campuses, facilities include classrooms, dining space, a garden, a simulation lab for its health programs, a commercially outfitted teaching kitchen, telepresence communications rooms, fitness labs, trades labs and a pantry for students experiencing food insecurity. SGEI further supports its students through academic tutoring, mental health services and one-on-one mentorship rooted in Anishinaabe culture.
