Mohawk College is following the example of its university cousins and has hired a former politician to be its new president.

Rob MacIsaac, a former three-term mayor of Burlington, Ontario brings a wealth of experience and community connections to the position. Connections which will provide invaluable on the fundraising circuit. More importantly, MacIsaac has strong connections with the provincial government. MacIsaac was picked by the government to lead it’s Greater Toronto Area transit initatives as chair of Metrolinx.

The role of executive head in the post-secondary sector has undergone a revolution during the past decade. With Mohawk’s growth and future success dependent on both private and government fundraising, having a well-connected and respected former politician fill the big chair is a very smart move.
