P.E.I. Premier Robert Ghiz says a new bursary program for post-secondary education will help to build a better future for the province. The bursary will give all Island high school graduates $2,000 to put toward first-year tuition at the University of Prince Edward Island. A similar program has been set up for Holland College and French post-secondary education.

UPEI president Wade MacLauchlan says the bursary will help full-time students and the university.

He says it’s a great incentive for students to stay on the Island.

The bursary is expected to cost the province about $1.2 million a year.
