_______________________________________________

Dear Members of the Queen’s Community,

After much reflection, I have decided to withdraw my request for reappointment and, with regret, will be stepping aside as Principal and Vice-Chancellor effective April 30, 2008 in order to ensure a smooth transition.

I want to take this opportunity to express my deep thanks to those Trustees, faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumni and volunteers who played such a large part in the accomplishments of the last four years.  I look forward to thanking you personally in the days ahead.  I especially want to thank my Vice-Principals whose professionalism, skill, creativity and deep commitment to Queen’s serve us all so well.

Canadian universities are welcoming students back to class, residence and even karaoke events. But there’s still plenty of online instruction, and some schools have vaccine mandates.

It has been an honour to serve Queen’s and I wish only the best for the University we all love.

Sincerely,

Karen R. Hitchcock, Ph.D.
Principal and Vice-Chancellor
