Tragic ending at Carleton

It appears that the story of missing Carleton University student Nadia Kajouji is coming to a tragic end. Ottawa police confirm that a body found early Sunday morning in the Rideau River is that of a female.

Carleton University president Samy Mahmond said, in a statement released today, "am profoundly saddened by the news of the reported discovery of Nadia."

This column by Michele Mandel a couple of weeks ago in the Toronto Sun summaries the situation and the frustration the family faced learning about their daughters difficulties during her first year in university.

This tragic story will likely result in universities and government reevaluating current practices and methods of assisting struggling students. Clearly, changes have to be made to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
