Transferability of credits is problem in the U.S. as well

Jay Mathews, Education Columnist for The Washington Post, wrote an interesting column yesterday summarizing the findings of Louisville Courier-Journal reporter Nancy C. Rodriguez’s investigative report on Kentucky’s community college transfer system.

Kentucky, like many states, has legislation requiring universities to transfer credits from the college system into the university system. Turns out that the legislation is not working as intended and transferring between the systems still proves to be difficult for students.

They’re still ahead of most Canadian provinces, at least they have legislation that tries to assist students transfer from college to university.
