Professors, part-time teachers and librarians remained on strike at the University of Windsor on Thursday morning, keeping roughly 16,000 students out of class.About 1,000 staffers at the Windsor, Ont., university walked off the job on Wednesday morning after contract negotiations failed to reach an agreement. The workers have been without a contract since June 30.

Union and university officials say they hope to reach a tentative agreement and get students back in class as soon as possible. But union president Brian Brown says there are still a lot of issues to resolve.

The University of Windsor Students’ Alliance is officially supporting the faculty in its strike but says there is widespread concern among students about when classes will resume.
