University of Lethbridge
The University of Lethbridge’s University Hall is surrounded by green hills that make it look like a ship on an emerald ocean—fitting for a school that is always charting new territory. With campuses in Lethbridge and downtown Calgary, the school has academics working in niche areas, and classes are small enough that undergrads can share in professors’ discoveries.
“ULethbridge is a very welcoming community,” says president Digvir Jayas. “I am very encouraged by the energy and enthusiasm I see throughout our campuses, including excited and engaged students who are making the most of their ULethbridge experience, and renowned faculty members and exceptional staff members, who are committed to creating a culture of support for students.”
Agility, a donor-funded initiative that supports experiential learning and career preparation through hands-on workshops, innovation zones equipped with cutting-edge tools, entrepreneurial supports, scholarships and research grants, is available to all students. ULethbridge has roots as a liberal arts university and fosters an impressive fine arts community. Students in the Dhillon School of Business have a high-tech trading centre and spacious team workspace on both campuses. Lethbridge is creating opportunities and support for Indigenous youth through a partnership with the Blackfoot Confederacy and the Mastercard Foundation. All students can take part in work-integrated learning opportunities that can be recorded and shared with future employers in the MyExperience Transcript.
Campus Buzz: Last year, the university opened several R.E.C. rooms (which stands for refresh, energize and connect), with activities like a giant chessboard, Jenga, puzzles and games tables.
