Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières

Founded 1969 | Trois-Rivières, Que.

The Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières draws on its history and setting for inspiration. Its Centre for Quebec Studies, for example, is an homage to a city that traces its roots back to 1634, while Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières’s focus is firmly planted in the 21st century. A second campus opened in nearby Drummondville in 2016. UQTR offers more than 300 programs in areas including engineering, accounting, health, and recreation, culture and tourism. A podiatry program complements midwifery, chiropractic and nursing programs. Students may complement their degrees with certificates and microprograms offered entirely online. Notable research units include the Innovations Institute in Ecomaterials, Ecoproducts and Ecoenergies (I2E3) and the Research Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. The Hydrogen Research Institute is a leader in the development of sustainable energy systems, while the laboratory ship Lampsilis conducts research on aquatic ecosystems along the St. Lawrence River. Researchers at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on the Development of the Child and the Family are experts in areas such as child abuse and domestic violence.
