University of New Brunswick
The University of New Brunswick is the oldest English-language university in the country. With campuses in Fredericton and Saint John, the University of New Brunswick offers more than 75 undergraduate and graduate programs. Fredericton, home to the original campus, offers a larger number of programs, including arts, business administration, computer science, education, engineering, kinesiology, nursing, science and law. Saint John offers arts, business, science, engineering and a medical program.
Both campuses have a small-school feel; the student-to-faculty ratio is 15 to 1. The university places a strong focus on research. The Planetary and Space Science Centre is home to Canada’s only NASA-designated Regional Planetary Image Facility, where the public can view mission documents and cartographical information. The Human Performance Lab is an innovative motion-analysis lab with state-of-the-art equipment. Another strong focus: hands-on learning and entrepreneurship. More than 100 startups have launched from the school in the past decade.

Standout programs
Social Work: Learn about community development, policy work, mental health and family intervention. The program includes an emphasis on diversity and Indigenous perspectives, and provides 700 hours of experiential education, including a 450-hour work term.
Forestry and Environmental Management: Drawing on its location near dense forests, this program offers students practical experience, industry connections and mentorship; 95 per cent of forestry students have jobs by the time they graduate.
Kinesiology: This program, which offers a minor in ergonomics and a directed studies option, provides a balance of theory and practice. Students hone technical skills in state-of-the art labs and through work placements.
