Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak has proposed constructing a 48-kilometre tunnel linking Gaza and the West Bank to link the two Palestinian territories. Barak said the tunnel would remain under Israeli sovereignty, while Palestinians would have authority over its traffic. Barak called the projected cost of up to US$3 million a “reasonable sum.”
