The NFL has its first restaurant sponsor this season after signing a deal with the International House of Pancakes. As part of the three-month partnership, IHOP is producing two football-themed menu items: NFL Stuffed French Toast and the QB Scramble, reports the SportsBusiness Journal. IHOP is a fan of sports tie-ins. It already sponsors the Harlem Globetrotters and the WNBA, but this is its most high-profile yet (watch for commercials featuring the Philadelphia Eagles’ QB Donovan McNabb). The deal underscores the importance of drumming up business in the highly competitive world of casual dining chains, as well as the value of sponsorship money for pro sports leagues in these hard economic times.
