The Alberta government says it thinks an arson caused a wildfire around Slave Lake last spring, and has turned over results from its five-month investigation to the RCMP, which will decide whether to launch a criminal investigation, The Globe and Mail reports. The forest fire in mid-May destroyed 400 homes and businesses, leaving 2,000 homeless and causing $700 million in damage.
