Boston Globe to shutter in 60 days?

The paper’s owner, the New York Times Co., says it couldn’t gain enough concessions from unions

The New York Times, which owns the Boston Globe, is giving the federal government a notice of intent to shut down Boston’s leading newspaper within 60 days. The Times corporation is engaged in negotiations with the Boston Globe’s unions—and this could just be a very hardball way of trying to scare the unions into giving in. But if the money-losing Times does decide to shut down the Globe, it will make Bostonians hate New York even more than they already do. If that’s even possible.
