British Columbia has at least 10 tight races
BC will decide the election: political scientist
“British Columbia will decide the election, it’s as simple as that,” Patrick Smith, a Simon Fraser political scientist told Metro News. “I don’t think we’ll have a winner by the time we get across the Rockies, and there are 10 ridings that are so close.” One such seat is Vancouver South where Liberal (and former premier) Ujjal Dosanjh is facing off against Conservative Wai Young, who lost the seat by just 20 votes in 2008. In Saanich-Gulf Islands, Green leader Elizabeth May could unseat Conservative Gary Lunn. Many of the other tight races will be between the Conservatives and the NDP, says Smith.
