Canada wins gold in men’s 5000-metre short track relay
And Canada takes the lead in gold medals
The Canadian men’s short-track team—the boys accused of underperforming at these Games—have walked away with another gold with a win in the 5,000-metre relay. Moments earlier Charles Hamelin won gold and Francois-Louis Tremblay won bronze in the men’s 500-metre. This three-medal boost has launched Canada into the top spot for gold medals with 10—above Germany at nine and the U.S. at eight—but it still ranks third in overall medals.
