Stephen Harper and the EU leaders signed an "open skies" pact earlier today that will change the existing agreements concerning flights between Canada and the EU. The goals of the pact are to decrease restrictions on airline ownership, cross-national investment, route restrictions, flight frequency, and flight prices. The PM believes the agreement is "a glimmer of light" in the current recession, and an EU study has demonstrated that the pact will generate at least $96 million, create a thousand jobs, and attract an additional 500,000 passengers in its first year.
