Canada’s housing sector sees big gains in February
Ontario sees a 30 percent increase in homes built
Canada’s housing sector saw significant gains last month, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Builders broke ground on 182,000 new homes in February, a 7 percent increase from January. Ontario alone saw a 30 per cent increase, with 62,600 housing starts last month. The CMHC attributes the growth in Ontario to a mild rise in house prices and a rise in demand for new multi-family dwellings.
