Canadian skier Sarah Burke dies

Burke had been comatose since a devastating fall earlier this month

Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke has died in Utah. Burke had been in a coma since a Jan. 10 accident in which she suffered serious injuries and went into cardiac arrest after a fall at the Eagle Superpipe at City Mountain Resort. Burke, 29, married professional skier Rory Bushfield last year. She was known not only for her athleticism but also for her role in advocating for women’s rights to compete in freestyle skiing in the Olympics.
