"6% ongoing increase for health transfers"

The Conservative Party has promised to continue the 6 per cent escalator in health care transfers to the provinces until 2014, but has not specified its commitments beyond that. Prime Minister Stephen Harper said, "We are planning on a six-per-cent ongoing increase for health transfers. We have been very consistent on this." Conservative officials say the transfers will continue past 2014, although the 2011 budget, which did not get to a vote, said any increases past 2014 haven’t been legislated and are subject to change.
