"Dead" man shows up alive at funeral

Relatives misidentify family member as victim of car crash

It was a real-life case of dead man walking. On Monday, a Brazilian man shocked friends and family when he turned up at his own funeral, alive and well. It all started on Sunday, when a late night car crash in Panama state left one victim dead and badly disfigured. Relatives of Ademir Jorge Goncalves, a 59-year-old bricklayer, identified him as the unknown victim. As per Brazilian custom, a funeral was planned for the next day. But Goncalves wasn’t the man in the casket. Goncalves had in fact spent the night drinking sugarcane liquor at a truck stop with some friends and didn’t hear about his funeral until it was already under way.
