Now that Americans are wrestling with real problems, the “get real” theatrics of Oprah-anointed national shrink Phil McGraw have lost their appeal, reports the Los Angeles Times. National ratings for "Dr. Phil" have plunged 27 per cent compared with last season, the worst performance by far of any major syndicated talk show this year.  (In comparison, ratings for the chippier “Ellen DeGeneres Show” are up 11 per cent). Even worse, Dr. Phil posted its steepest declines among the women who make up his core viewership: he lost one-third of female viewers ages 18 to 49, compared with last year.
