Government says Israeli peace plan is unacceptable
Egyptian government officials have decried a possible solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict offered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu speculated on a two-state option for the first time, but gave restrictions that the Egyptian and Palestinian governments consider unacceptable. His vision requires Palestinians to recognize Israel as a state, says current Israeli settlements on the West Bank will continue to grow, and says Palestinian immigrants from the 1948 war won’t be allowed to return home.
