Federer as religious experience

Add Maclean's(opens in a new tab)

Two years ago a friend who loves tennis, Roger Federer and David Foster Wallace (in that order) made me read "Federer as Religious Experience." I’d never read anything by Wallace, found dead Friday of an apparent suicide. I’ve been hooked on Federer ever since. If you like tennis, Federer or Wallace (and especially if you like all three) you should read this.

Nancy Macdonald writes primarily for Maclean’s national section. The transplanted Winnipegger now calls Vancouver home and spends her off-hours chasing her spirited toddler.
