The widow of the man whose assassination triggered the 1994 genocide of 800,000 people in Rwanda has been arrested in France and may face extradition to Rwanda. Agathe Habyarimana was married to former Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana when a missile hit his jet as it flew over the Kigale airport. Ethnic Hutu supporters of the deceased president then began their massacre of ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus. The current Rwandan government accuses Agathe Habyarimana of helping to plan the genocide. She was detained by police executing a Rwandan-issued international arrest warrant.
