Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has been taken into custody during her trial on charges of abuse of office. The judge residing over Tymoshenko’s court proceedings accused her of repeated violations of court rules, including impeding proceedings. Tymoshenko is accused of illegally agreeing to a 10-year contract to purchase natural gas from Russia, which investigators say forced Ukraine into a deal that was economically devastating.
