From Bond to Blomquist
After two Bond movies, Daniel Craig’s future as 007 is on ice as MGM grapples with its financial crisis. But the British actor is the leading candidate to play investigative journalist Michael Blomquist in David Fincher’s Hollywood version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the first book of Stieg Larsson’s blockbuster Millenium novels. Larsson’s trilogy has already been made into a successful Swedish-language series of films, and Fincher (Zodiac, Panic Room, Seven) is slated to direct all three Hollywood versions. Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman have expressed interest playing the franchise’s punk heroine, Lisbeth Salander. But it’s hard to imagine anyone doing a better job than Noomi Rapace did in the Swedish version.
