
Earlier today, VANOC announced results of round #1 of ticket sales:
They fielded $345 million in requests—roughly four times the requests for Salt Lake City, the next-biggest phase one seller.
120 of 170 ticketed sessions were oversubscribed due to demand; tickets for those events will be have to be assigned by lottery.
And the top sellers…. with a drum roll please….
-140,000 requested tickets for the men’s gold medal hockey game;
-84,000 requests for the Opening Ceremonies;
-41,000 requests for the women’s gold medal hockey game;
-27,000 for the men’s snowboard halfpipe
-19,800 for the men’s curling gold medal final (only in Canada)
-10,200 for the four-man men’s bobsleigh final
(No word on biathlon, eh?)
