Prime Minister Stephen Harper is using Iran to send messages to the Americans. In a CBC interview aired on Monday, he referred to the country twice. First to defend the proposed Keystone XL pipeline connecting Alberta to Texas, saying that the recent threat uttered by Iran to block the Strait of Hormuz “illustrates how critical it is that supply for the United States be North American.” Harper also escalated his anti-Iran rhetoric by saying the country’s regime “frightens” him because he believes it is capable and willing to use nuclear weapons for “religious or political purposes.”
