Prime Minister Stephen Harper delivered a progress report on the federal government’s stimulus spending at a townhall meeting in Cambridge, Ont., in which he lauded his government’s performance in getting 80 per cent of the funds out the door less than three months into the fiscal year. While the PM didn’t announce any new projects, he said more than 3,000 infrastructure projects are getting under way thanks to $22.7 billion worth of investments by Ottawa. In a cautionary message to opposition parties who might try to bring down the government over the progress report, Harper warned that “the only thing that can get us off course now is needless political instability.”
