Two months after Batman’s untimely death, Detective Comics has revealed  his successor: his long-standing  counterpart Batwoman, aka Kathy Kane, described as a "a lesbian socialite by night and a crime-fighter by later in the night". The character, expected to be the subject of at least 12 issues, represents the most high-profile appearance by a gay superhero in any book published by the legendary DC Comics.  Writer Greg Rucka said Bruce Wayne’s apparent death provided the perfect opportunity to make Kane, who has made fleeting appearances since being outed, the star: "We have been waiting to unlock her. It’s long overdue," he said, adding. "If people are going to have problems with it, that’s their issue."
