Iran isn’t cooperating with UN agency
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency is warning that Iran has not been cooperating with the UN agency as it seeks to assess whether Tehran is using its nuclear resources to build weapons. "We cannot confirm that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities," Yukiya Amano said, "because Iran has not provided the agency with the necessary cooperation." Though Iran’s foreign minister denied Amano’s claims, the increasingly critical line adopted by the IAEA is expected to strengthen calls for sanctions against Iran. However, Security Council members Russia and China remain reluctant to endorse any moves to punish Iran for its secretive nuclear programme.
