Ayatollah Ali Khamanei has agreed to an appeal from Mir Houssein Mousavi and ordered the Guardian Council, made up of 12 of Iran’s top clerics, to investigate the election, which many Iranians say was fraudulent. Analysts say the probe will probably have no effect on the election result. Meanwhile widespread violent clashes between demonstrators and police continue, with some protestors claiming they won’t stop until President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is replaced.
