Memory loss caused by marijuana
Brain’s natural chemistry affected
In a recent study published in Nature Neuroscience, scientists identified the brain protein that is affected by marijuana use and responsible for memory loss. THC, the main chemical compound in weed, interferes with the brain’s natural protein synthesis machinery. Long term studies done on mice showed that the protein synthesis was altered by THC and correlated with long-term memory deficits.
