One-quarter of caregivers report depression

Impact of caregiving on savings is an overwhelming concern

One in four caregivers for sick or elderly family members and friends say they suffer from depression, while just 9 per cent of all Americans do, according to a new study reported in Reuters. The survey was done by, a California-based website for caregivers that commissioned an online survey of 400 people. They also found that one-third of family caregivers spend more than 30 hours per week in that role, and 77 per cent are worried about the impact of caregiving on their savings.
