Pages turn the corner on winning

After five years of losses, the Parliamentary pages beat the MPs in their annual soccer match 9-8. The pages held signs proclaiming, “We will party whip your butt” and “Our caucus is bigger than yours.”

The pages wore black T-shirts and the MPs were supposed to wear white. Liberal Martha Hall Findlay, the only female MP who played this year, didn’t have a white T so NDP MP Peter Stoffer gave her one.

Stoffer even autographed it.

Tory MPs on the pitch included (left to right) Mike Lake, Jaffer, Peter MacKay and Monte Solberg who sported shin pads.

Stoffer broke his hand in three places. Here he is with two pages and a cold pack.

This is what he looked like the next day.
