PC Leader John Tory loses byelection
Leader fails to pick up a Tory stronghold; expected to announce his plans for the future on Friday.
Ontario PC leader John Tory, who was in tough against Dalton McGuinty for the keys to the Premier’s office only two years ago, lost to Liberal Rick Johnson in a byelection tonight. Tory failed to capture the Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock riding, which has been a PC stronghold for a decade. Tory, who has not held a seat in the legislature since losing to Liberal Kathleen Wynne in 2007, campaigned on the importance of leading the opposition from the floor of the legislature. He is expected to outline his future political plans during a press conference on Friday.
