Rachida Dati to survive French cabinet reshuffle

Justice minister criticized for returning to work five days after giving birth will keep her job

French Justice Minister Rachida Dati has confirmed she will keep her job despite reports suggesting her days in cabinet were nearly over. Her comments come on the heels of reports saying Dati had volunteered instead to run as a Euro-MP or take on a lower-profile position. The 43-year-old minister has also sparked widespread debate recently over maternity leave after returning to work only five days after giving birth to her daughter Zohra. Dati, who is unmarried, has refused to name the father of her baby since confirming she was pregnant in September.
