Scrap the long-gun registry

On April 4, while campaigning in Welland, ON, Prime Minister Harper re-affirmed his party’s goal of scrapping the long-gun registry. Conservative MP Candice Hoepnner’s (Portage-Lisgar) private member’s bill to dismantle the registry was defeated in a close vote of 153-151 in the House of Commons in September 2010.
