Anti-foie gras protesters claim victory over Ottawa restaurants

After months of protesting, the Ottawa Animal Defense League has won its battle against celebrated chef Stephen Beckta, who has agreed to take fois gras off his restaurant’s menu. The group’s goal is to remove the controversial delicacy, which is made from the livers of force fed geese and ducks, from Ottawa establishments. Beckta’s staff also received numerous threatening emails and phone calls. “In my mind, this is as much a story about intimidation and harassment as it is about animal cruelty,” he says.
