Souris suspension bridge cut down in Manitoba
Floodwaters made town’s biggest tourist attraction too dangerous to maintain
Emergency crews cut down the Souris suspension bridge in Souris, Manitoba on Monday, due to fears that floodwaters would unearth the bridge’s anchors and destroy a vital earth dike. The bridge was the longest of its kind in Canada, and Souris’ biggest tourist attraction. Other Souris tourist attractions closed because of the flooding include a bird sanctuary, swimming pool, and a golf course.
