Syria’s regime has announced it will take part in a national dialogue with government opponents on July 10. But activists have criticized the idea of dialogue as useless as long as the bloody government crackdown on dissidents continues in the country. President Bashar al-Assad has said about 100 people will be chosen for the July talk, but the body in charge says all opposition and government figures were invited. At least 1500 opponents of the government have been killed since the uprising began three months ago.
