Seal meat now on the menu on Parliament Hill
Canadian MPs wanting to show solidarity with seal hunters’ protest of an EU ban on imports will be able to order the animal’s meat this week in the Parliamentary restaurant. The ban was imposed last June on the grounds that the annual hunt was cruel. Canada has requested talks with the EU at the World Trade Organization, the first step before launching an official trade challenge to salvage a Canadian industry valued at nearly $10 million in exports last year.
