Thanks to its infomercial the Snuggie is both popular and widely parodied. Four million people have bought the blanket with sleeves—a product that had Jay Leno wondering, “Why don’t you just put your robe on backwards?” But the Snuggie, it turns out, isn’t a trailblazer. It was predated by a competitor called the Slanket. And another called  the Freedom Blanket. These blankets with arm holes are suddenly (and miraculously) a hot item and pop culture phenomenon. And it seems that marketing will determine which company’s
blanket comes out ahead.
