Trusted confidant learned of affair
As rumours continue to swirl about the alleged battlefield relationship between Canada’s top soldier in Afghanistan and one of his soldiers, new details have emerged about how the scandal came to light. According to the Toronto Star, which cited a defence source, the soldier confided in someone she trusted at the Kandahar Airfield about her dalliance with Brig.-Gen. Daniel Ménard. But word travelled fast, and within a day, both parties were headed back to Canada.
