Singer Nana Mouskouri has offered her pension from her stint as an MP in the European Parliament to her native Greece in a bid to help the country out of its dire financial straits. The Greek government recently announced sweeping austerity measures including tax hikes and spending cuts aimed at pulling the country, which is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, out of deficit. Mouskouri, who’s sold over 300 million records worldwide in addition to serving as a Euro MP from 1994 to 1999, said her pledge was borne out of a sense of "duty to the country."
